Gates has the highest tax rate in Monroe County in 2009 as you can verify. Gates will continue to have the highest tax rate again in 2010. In a special election in 2006, Mark McIntee became the first Gates Democrat elected to the Gates Town Board since the 1970’s. He was reelected in 2007 for a full 4 year term. He is a true fiscal conservative and speaks up at each Town Board meeting to offer cost saving suggestions. Today's economic challenges are an opportunity to redefine who we are as a community and to confirm what is essential and valued in our town government. Gates needs to be an attractive destination for new residents and businesses. The Gates Democrats Committee invites all registered Democrats to join us at 7:15 pm on the 2nd Thursday, March – December at the Hidden Valley Clubhouse off Pixley Road for our meetings. Please join your voice to our collective call for responsive, open government that enhances our future and protects the qualities that makes Gates a great place to live.
